Whispers of a Dead God
In ages past, Citadel Orogoth served as the capitol and seat of power in the ancient Nymerian Empire, which stretched from what is now the Gray Wastes to the southern shores of Lake Shimmerscale. Now, that empire exists only in legend and forgotten, overgrown ruins that dot the landscape. Citadel Orogoth stands strong, with tall, sturdy walls encompassing the city and the spires of the Citadel itself watching out over the nearby lands. The Queen Regent rules the western lands in her son’s stead until he comes of age. Her rule is just and follows the letter of the law, but often times the common folk fear her cruelty. Her nephew, who is next in line to the throne after she and her son, commands the city’s unparalleled militia. Citadel Orogoth is also home to the Mages’ Guild of Nymeria. The Guild regulates the use of magic, banning unlicensed spellcasting and restricting the sale and trade of magical items or weapons. They enforce their decrees through highly trained inquisitors who seek to bring rogue wizards and sorcerers to justice.
